YES! I also read it before querying and then again after going on submission, and I totally agree it was a different experience in the best way.

Okay yes! Everything looks different once you have an agent. Once I'm out on submission I'll probably be flipping through it some more!

That book has been such a gift for me as well. I've returned to it multiple times. There's so much in publishing that no one speaks openly about!

I agree! It’s so useful because she shares things we wouldn’t even know to ask about. And as murky as this publishing industry is, any insider knowledge is appreciated!

Thanks for sharing this. The book has been on my radar but it’s time to read it! Also this question has definitely been on my mind: ‘If I have children, will I ever write again?’ 😅

I think it’s definitely time for you to read it, given when I know about your writing aspirations! As for kids, one bit of encouragement from the book is that having kids helps you prioritize! So you may be saying no to other things you used to say yes to, but you have a deeper sense now of what’s important to you.
